How it works

Learn it, do it, be coached on it, prove it.

Chefted is not another online course. Knowledge creates understanding; coaching creates excellence. Every Skill runs through the same short loop inside the actual work, and produces evidence you can act on.

  1. Stage 01

    Watch and understand

Before anyone touches the task, they see the method, the standard and why it matters on a busy service. Knowledge creates understanding.

  2. Stage 02

    Practise in the workplace

The Skill is practised during real work, in real conditions. Development happens on shift, not in a classroom.

  3. Stage 03

    Record the task

A short phone video of the real thing. Recording is for coaching, never surveillance — it captures the work, not the worker.

  4. Stage 04

    Receive coaching from Ted

Ted answers the same three questions every time: what you did well, what to improve next, and what to practise now. Judgement is on the work, never the person.

  5. Stage 05

    Apply and reassess

Try it again with the correction in mind. Progress before perfection — improvement over time is the point, not a perfect first attempt.

  6. Stage 06

    Demonstrate and unlock

When the standard is met, the Skill is confirmed and added to a permanent Skills Passport that belongs to the person who earned it.

What the skill assessment does, and doesn't do.

Ted does:

  • Assess the work against your Skill's criteria
  • Name a strength and one clear improvement
  • Give a practical action to try on the next shift
  • Flag anything that needs manager review

Ted doesn't:

  • Judge the person, only the task in front of it
  • Act as surveillance or a performance-management tool
  • Make employment or disciplinary decisions
  • Diagnose health or infer protected characteristics
  • Approve a Skill without manager sign-off where required
